Parts Counter Salesperson

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Parts Manager, the Parts Counter Salesperson is responsible for selling parts over the front counter and back counter.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handles parts requirements of customers through counter service and telephone sales.
  • Invoices and pulls parts correctly.
  • Places parts in the appropriate area for customer pick-up or delivery.
  • Adds Service Department parts to RO and issues to technician in a timely manner.
  • Greets customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
  • Assists in keeping parts area clean and shelves stocked and orderly.
  • Assists with physical stock inventory.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Parts knowledge for all Freightliner models. 
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software and Inventory software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
