Skyline Tours, a new, New York City Tourism Company, is looking for an experienced Chief Mechanic. You will help to maintain our fleet of double-decker tour buses at our maintenance facility. This is a new position and you will grow into your role learning with the company. The pay for this position depends on the experience.

Job Responsibilities

As the Chief Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on our bus fleet, as well as troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, alignments, suspension, hydraulics, transmissions and electrical systems. This position requires a certain amount of administrative duties. Supervising hourly diesel mechanics.

Your specific duties will include:

Performing assigned vehicle and facility maintenance related duties in a safe and timely manner Adjusting and relining brakes, aligning wheels, tightening bolts and screws and reassembling equipment Inspecting, repairing and maintaining automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors Raising buses and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists Ensuring that all appropriate inspections and approval of repairs are conducted before vehicle is released from maintenance facility Maintaining a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area including ensuring work area is in compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines and requirements Recording time spent, parts used and repairs conducted on the appropriate form upon completion of assignment

Job Requirements

As the Chief Mechanic, you must have a solid mechanical background as well as the ability and desire to learn. You must also have a strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail. It is also important that you have excellent communication and teamwork skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships within our organization.

Specific qualifications for the Chief Mechanic position include:

Previous automotive mechanical experience Excellent troubleshooting skills Experience with Cummins engines Experience with Atlantic Detroit Diesel  Trade school experience, a plus
